We are looking for a Data Engineer that will help collect, store, process, and protect our data. The primary focus will be on choosing optimal solutions to use for these purposes, then implementing, maintaining, and monitoring them. You will also be responsible for setting up data streams, ensuring data quality, and making datasets available to users.
Design, select, build, and maintain scalable data management systems
Implement ETL processes
Convert prototype scripts into production code, and collaborate in their deployment
Monitor and improve data quality, integrity, and reliability, and advise any necessary infrastructure changes
Identify and implement opportunities for data acquisition
Employ a variety of languages and tools (e.g. scripting languages) to marry systems together
Define and enforce data retention policies
Install and update disaster recovery procedures
Collaborate with users to make data available on an ad-hoc basis
4+ years experience in pharma/biotech, or experience with biology/chemistry data
Bachelors or Masters in engineering or related
Experience in pharma/biotech, or experience with biology/chemistry data
Relational databases (Postgres)
NoSQL-based technologies (MongoDB)
Cloud storage infrastructures
Proficient in distributed computing principles
Highly organized, attentive, and pragmatic.
Must be comfortable working in a company environment with rapidly evolving needs, responsibilities and expectations.
Excellent interpersonal skills. Respectful and open to others’ views; contribute to building an awesome workplace.
Exposure to molecular biology is highly desirable
Collaboration with biologists, chemists, or hardware engineers to organize data collection
