currently have a Mine Superintendent
position open at our Vernal, UT
facility.
Overview:
This position is responsible for
managing the mining operation at the
Vernal, UT phosphate mine in a safe,
environmentally responsible and cost
effective manner consistent with
Company policy and in compliance
with government laws and
regulations.
Essential Functions:
Provide leadership and direction to
mine, mine engineering and
environmental personnel through open
communication, equitable and
consistent application of Company
policy and procedures, personnel
development, team building,
visibility and accessibility in the
working areas.
1. Establish effective and efficient
mine plan for all aspects of the
mining operation including mine
sequencing, equipment replacement
needs and future mining requirements
to ensure quality output within
operating and budget parameters.
Ensure customer requirements are
met.
2. Maintain an open door policy.
Provide overall management of
employee issues and information
updates. Provide direction to ensure
compliance with federal and state
employment laws, MSHA regulations,
environmental laws, regulations, and
permits and other pertinent laws and
regulations.
3. Work closely with maintenance to
establish priorities and minimize
work disruption.
4. Planning and budgeting: Develop
short and long-term strategic mine
plans. Participate in manpower
planning in the mine and annual mine
operating and capital budgeting.
Stay abreast of new technology and
equipment capabilities.
Skill/Experience Requirements:
Position requires Bachelor's degree
(B.A. / B.S.) in Mine Engineering
from four-year college or university
and five plus years progressive
experience, responsibility and
authority in hard rock drill and
blast operations, mine planning, and
reclamation practices or equivalent
combination of education and
experience.
Vernal:
Vernal, Utah is an attractive small
town with around 8,000.00 residents.
It is located along Hwys. 191/40 in
the northeast corner of Utah. Vernal
serves mainly as a base for
exploring Dinosaur National
Monument, Flaming Gorge and the
Uintah Mountains. Vernal also offers
many recreational opportunities such
as fishing, river running, hiking,
biking, and camping in alpine
meadows and red-rock canyons.
