currently have a Cattle Manager
position open at in Pasco WA.
Overview: Supervises the processing
of cattle as they arrive at the
feedlot to ensure that they are
properly inspected, sorted,
vaccinated and/or branded in a
timely manner that minimizes stress
to the animal. Supervises and
schedules cowboy and vet crews to
accomplish daily activities of pen
checking, sorting, moving, and
doctoring as required to maintain
good herd health. Maintains and
updates all cattle transactions,
including processing, vaccinations,
movements and deaths, through a
feedlot management software system,
Cattle Expert. Monitors cattle on a
daily basis, removing sick and
injured cattle to the feedlot
hospital for treatment in order to
protect the herd from the spread of
disease. Inspects cattle for
evidence of disease or injury and
treats animal according to
experience or following instructions
of Staff Veterinarian.
Skill / Experience Requirements:
Knowledgeable in the areas of animal
health and cattle conditions
generally acquired with a minimum of
ten or more years related experience
and/or training in a large feedlot
or range environment. Responsible
for crew of up to 20; average cattle
headcount of 40,000.
- High school diploma or general
education degree (GED). - Five plus
years related experience and/or
training. Equivalent combination of
education and experience will be
considered for meeting the minimum
requirement.
Location Information: Overlooks the
Columbia River in Washington's
burgeoning Tri-City area. A former
railway town and agricultural hub
for Southeast Washington, Pasco
still possesses some evidence of its
early agricultural roots. An
increasing number of wine producers
are gravitating to the Pasco area,
where warm, dry weather and mild
winters provide the ideal climate
for Washington's expanding wine
industry. Not surprising, wine
festivals are becoming a Tri-City
tradition and are an easy stop for
regional wine tours.
